Ingredients for one spring form:
200 g margarine (or butter)
225 g sugar
4 tbsp apple sauce (or 4 eggs at room temperature)
1 tsp baking powder
150 g flour
3 apples
2 tsp sugar
1.5 tsp cinnamon powder
Preheat your oven to 180 °C upper and bottom heat.
Linen and and grease a 24-cm-spring-form cake tin.
Then with a hand mixer or a food processor mix together margarine (or butter) with the sugar until everything is light and fluffy and the sugar has dissolved in the margarine (this will take some minutes). Add the apple sauce (or eggs) ones at a time and mix well.
Put together flour and baking powder and pour over the dough. Fold in until its mixed well. Put half the dough into the spring-form pan.
Peel and core the apples and slice them very thin. Arrange the slices of two apples over the dough and sprinkle them with sugar and cinnamon. Then cover the apples with the remaining dough.
After that arrange the slices of the last apple over the dough in a decorative way. Then sprinkle the top of the apples with some sugar.
On the lowest oven shelf bake the cake for ca. 50 minutes.
The cake is best a little warm with thick pouring cream and a coffee.
